Possession and "Checking the Ball"
- A coin toss will determine first possession. The alternate possession rule will be in effect after the coin toss.
- The ball must be taken back behind the "take back" line on each change of possession. The "take back" line will be the 3-point arc.
- Change of possession includes a defensive rebound, made basket, "air ball" recovered by the defensive team, a turnover or a stolen ball by the defensive team.
- "Taking back" means the ball handler's feet and the ball must be behind the check line. Failure to do this will result in loss of possession and no points awarded if a basket is scored.
- The ball must be checked by the opposing team at the top of the key after a made basket or a dead ball situation.
- The ball must be passed in after it has been checked by the opposing team.
- (First Violation = Warning, Second = turnover)
