Fouls and Violations

  • An official will be present on all courts to verify score and communicate infractions.
  • If a player is fowled while shooting and makes the basket, the basket will count and the player will shoot a 1-point free throw. Make or Miss, Possession alternates.
  • If a player is fouled while shooting and misses the basket, the offensive team will maintain possession of the ball.
  • A team Captain may ask the court monitor to settle disputes, whether it be "trash talk", sketchy calls, or rough play. The court monitor decisions are final.
  • Shooting fouls will be handled in the following manner (on or after the 5th foul or team foul). When the basket is missed and the free throw is made, possession goes to the defensive team. If the free throw is missed, the offensive team retains possession.
  • The Free Throw Option: In any free throw situations, (excluding technical, intentional and flagrant fouls), the designated shooter may at his point, or from behind the three-point line for 3 points. In either case the player shooting must have both feet completely behind the line when it’s made or missed (exception: technical, intentional or flagrant fouls).
  • Technical, Intentional and Flagrant Fouls: Non-offending team will select a player on the court to shoot a 1-point free throw.
  • Make or Miss, Non-offending team maintains possession. First technical, results in two shots and the ball, every tech afterwards is four shots and ball.

Rules of Play

  • Teams consist of three to four players
  • A standard field goal is worth (2) points two, three (3) points will be awarded for baskets made from behind the "take back" or three-point line (19'9')
  • There is one (60 second) timeout per half, per team. The clock will also stop in the event of an injury.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of (20) minutes game, a free throw "shoot off" will determine winner.
  • Possession after a made basket will be opponent ball.

  • Standard 2's and 3's, but there are also 4-point spots!
  • No make it, take it - after a made shot, referee must touch the ball after giving the defense 3 second to set, losers (opposing team) must take ball beyond the top out of bounds line. Player has 5 seconds to return ball inbound.
  • Defensive rebounds have to be cleared (taken back behind the 3-point line but steals and air balls do not.

Possession and "Checking the Ball"

  • A coin toss will determine first possession. The alternate possession rule will be in effect after the coin toss.
  • The ball must be taken back behind the "take back" line on each change of possession. The "take back" line will be the 3-point arc.
  • Change of possession includes a defensive rebound, made basket, "air ball" recovered by the defensive team, a turnover or a stolen ball by the defensive team.
  • "Taking back" means the ball handler's feet and the ball must be behind the check line. Failure to do this will result in loss of possession and no points awarded if a basket is scored.
  • The ball must be checked by the opposing team at the top of the key after a made basket or a dead ball situation.
  • The ball must be passed in after it has been checked by the opposing team.
